Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Gregory of Nyssa Parish provides a way to literally wrap someone in prayer. Prayer shawls and lapghans are knitted or crocheted by members of our parish and then given to those who need our prayers. The shawl provides a visible symbol of Christ's presence and care.
"I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works. My soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:14
Time and talent
Our group of knitters and crocheters, even beginner level, derive joy from providing comfort, care, and prayer to those in need from our St. Gregory of Nyssa faith community and beyond. The group meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in the Ministry Center Meeting Room 121.
Prayer and worship
As prayer shawls are made, the knitter or crocheter is praying for the person who will be receiving the shawl and lifts them up in prayer. The shawl will be delivered to a person in need, such as someone struggling with an illness or someone grieving. A message of encouragement and words of comfort from Scripture can be shared with the person when it is delivered.
